CAN I BE A MENTOR?
All it takes to be a mentor is the desire to be a friend to a youth. You will meet with the youth on school grounds during the regular school day. One hour a week is all that is required. It can be a lot of fun and a life changing experience. Think about becoming a MENTOR today!

Statement of Purpose
Our goal is to foster relationships between youth and adults, which will increase academic performance, and reduce problem behavior; To teach our youth to become responsible, active, and productive citizens, while empowering parents.
Mentoring
Simply stated, mentoring is a one-to-one relationship lasting a prolonged period of time between a youth and an adult who provides consistent support, guidance and concrete help as the youth learns of the joys and challenge life has to offer.

What is a Mentor?
A mentor is an individual who is willing to be a role model and friend to a youth in the community.
Mentoring relationships include an adult who:
*Will promote empowering parents
*Are good listeners
* Are patient.
* Have genuine concern for our youth.
* Respect and accept different points of view.
* Respect the right of individuals to make their own choices.
* See solutions and opportunities as well as obstacles.
* Can empathize with another person’s problems.
* Are dependable in meeting with their mentees, providing stability and trust.
* Are flexible and open.
* Are encouraging and supportive.
* Relate well to individuals with experiences and cultures different from their own.
* Are responsible citizens.
