Job Summary:

  • Provides direction and leadership toward the achievement of the organization’s philosophy, mission and strategy.
  • Collaborates with the board of directors to determine annual goals and objectives.
  • Implements the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for overall agency administration and viability.
  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in public administration, education, social science or related field.
  • At least five years prior experience as executive director of a nonprofit agency or CEO/primary manager of a private sector business.
  • At least five years experience with oversight of a nonprofit budget and/or knowledge of finance and accounting, with an emphasis on fund balance accounts.
  • Comfort with and direct experience in fundraising with corporate and individual donors.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational, training, coordination and leadership skills.
  • Must have a passion for helping kids succeed.

Reports To: Board of Directors

Essential Functions:

    1. Board Administration and Support

    Supports operations and administration of board of directors by advising and informing board members; sits on Executive Committee and other committees as needed.

    2. Program Delivery

    Provides strategic CIS program design, implementation, and evaluation; provides individual and collective staff support and supervision for all CIS program activity; collaborates with school districts for project development and implementation.

    3. Financial and Facilities Management

    Recommends yearly budget for board of directors approval; works with director of finance to prudently manage the organization’s resources within those budget guidelines; oversees facilities management and operations.

    4. Community and Public Relations

    Ensures that the organization, its mission and programs are consistently presented in a strong, positive image; links with community-based organizations for strategic and project planning; oversees development and marketing efforts and personally participate in major development efforts.

    5. Community Partnerships

    Provides and brokers quality youth programming and services through appropriate linkages with school districts, social service agencies and community organizations.

    6. Leadership/Human Resource Management

    Conducts regular CIS Leadership Team meetings; leads internal staff meetings; ensures management of human resource functions according to procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations; provides an appropriate role in staff hiring; conducts annual evaluation of leadership team.
